Review Summary

Updated November 22, 2024The Oslo Gore-Tex Insulated Parka is designed for everyday wear in cold and wet weather, particularly suited for city life and dog walks. Reviewers frequently highlight its use for daily commutes, errands, and school runs, often in challenging Norwegian weather. While some use it for skiing or hiking, its primary strength lies in urban environments.\n\n**Standout features:** Waterproof and windproof Gore-Tex construction, lightweight yet warm insulation, practical pockets (including hand-warmer pockets), and a stylish, minimalist design frequently complimented by others. The magnetic front closure is a unique touch.\n\n**Fit and Comfort:** Sizing seems to run slightly small, with several reviewers recommending sizing up, especially if layering underneath. The sleeves are a common criticism, described as too short by taller individuals. The parka is generally considered comfortable and easy to move in.\n\n**Performance:** While marketed as warm, experiences vary. Some find it sufficiently warm for freezing temperatures with layering, while others feel cold even around 0°C, especially in the arms. Its waterproof and windproof capabilities are consistently praised.\n\n**Criticisms/Areas for Improvement:** The sleeves are consistently criticized for being too short. Some reviewers experienced issues with the zipper. A few noted color fading in the seams. An internal pocket and a more adjustable hood are desired features. Some find the lower pockets bulky when filled.\n\n**Recommendation:** The Oslo Gore-Tex Insulated Parka is recommended for individuals living in cool, wet climates who prioritize a stylish, waterproof, and windproof jacket for everyday urban use, such as commuting, dog walking, and running errands. Be mindful of sizing and sleeve length, and consider layering for optimal warmth in colder temperatures. It may not be suitable for those seeking maximum warmth for extended periods in freezing conditions without significant layering.\n

Female sizes could use an update

Bought this for my wife, but despite buying a larger size, it was too fitting at the hips, so that additional layers inside would have been uncomfortable to accommodate. So sadly hat to return it, although i thoroughly enjoy my (male) Oslo. Surprisingly, it was the same with the Tamok too. Although i have also a Tamok and love it very much. Male fits seem to be more spacious than female fits.

Keeps me dry but not really warm

I wanted to make sure to go through this winter, kept warm and cozy ... in a jacket with a minimalistic look. Because of the high price I was reluctant to order. After chatting with customer service, I decided for size L. When I received it, I liked the material and also that it's very light. Nevertheless, I exchanged it for a size M right away. That one fits me (usually a size 38 / M) well. However, for layering up underneath size L would have been the better choice. And as it turned out, I need to layer up, if I don't want to be cold in that jacket. When the temperatures hit 0°C, I already felt cold inside, especially on my arms.
On a positive note, the parka performs well in the rain, looks good and has very practical pockets.
Overall I'm very disappointed to have spent lots of money on a jacket that does not keep me warmer than my old winter jacket, in spite of customer service telling me that it'a very warm jacket, that the comfort temperature lies between 0° C and - 15°C with breaks and minor activity and that the size would be fine for me (no mentioning of the need to wear something else underneath).
Well, the parka does not work for me. Since I'm not able to return it, because I've been wearing it, I need to live with it as it is. I would not buy it again for sure.
