Our goal is to be the most responsible outdoor company

We aim to be a leader in environmental and social responsibility and push our industry forward. In order to do this, we’ve set out to accomplish the following 10 goals by our 100 year anniversary in 2029.

Goal 1

Zero carbon footprint

  • Our company will be carbon neutral by 2029.
  • We commit to using specific science-based targets to measure our greenhouse gas emissions across our whole value chain.
  • We will offset our carbon footprint with Co2 quotas on the way towards becoming carbon neutral.

Goal 10

100% of our sales will provide 1% to improve the planet and communities

  • 1% of our sales will support projects that significantly improve our social and environmental impact.
  • We will do this through using waste as an input for our products, reducing and eliminating negative impacts related to our products, cleaning up any product related footprint that has an adverse effect on biodiversity or the climate.
  • We will contribute towards protecting nature and the wilderness, giving back to the communities where we work, and funding research that promotes sustainable innovation.

Goal 2

100% responsible materials

  • 100% of our materials will come from recycled, organically grown, sustainable bio-synthetics, waste bi-products, reprocessed materials, or responsible animal based materials.
  • We utilize a circular business model (reduce, prolong, reuse, reprocess, recycle, biodegrade, and waste recovery) to ensure our materials will make the lowest impact on the planet.
  • All materials will have a valid third party verification.

Goal 3

Zero Waste

  • Zero products made will be discarded or provide no value.
  • 100% of leftover material used to make Norrøna products will be reused, recycled, or reprocessed.
  • Zero plastic waste from our products and materials.
  • We will have zero waste from our operations.
  • We utilize a circular business model (reduce, reuse, recycle, biodegradable and waste recovery) to prevent materials from going to waste.

Goal 4

100% of products will respect proper land use and biodiversity

  • We will respect land use and have land management practices that have a minimal impact on natural resources including: water, soil, nutrients, plants and animals.
  • We will protect the biodiversity of all land and wildlife connected with our products ensuring our practices do not lead to a reduction of forest, grasslands and soil erosion.
  • All materials will have a valid third party verification.

Goal 5

100% of products will respect animal freedoms

  • The Five Animal Freedoms include: freedom from hunger or thirst, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain, injury, or disease, freedom to express normal behavior and freedom from fear and distress.
  • All materials we use will respect The Five Animal Freedoms as a minimum and will have a valid third party verification.

Goal 6

100% of products are transparent, traceable, and accountable

  • 100% of our products are traceable, accountable and communicated by the use of third party verified tools.
  • Utilizing the most updated science-based measuring systems to track our products journey from facility to consumer with full transparency.

Goal 7

Zero hazardous chemicals

  • No hazardous chemicals will be released in the air or water across our product supply chain.
  • Science-based mapping of our chemical usage.
  • All materials used will be chemically certified.

Goal 8

100% transparency and admirable working conditions for all workers

  • All workers in our value chain (tier 1,2,3 and 4) will earn a salary level that represents a fair/living wage.
  • We will provide equal opportunities and treatment among women and men, a secure form of employment, and safe working conditions with social protection.
  • We will communicate on our website our human rights commitments. Including our progress and actions in an open and honest way about how we follow up our human rights responsibilities. And the progress towards our goals.

Goal 9

100% of workers will have their voices heard

  • All workers that are part of creating our products will be able to freely express their concerns.
  • All workers will be free to organize and participate in decisions that affect them, and have access to grievance mechanisms.
  • We will follow up on all concerns that have been raised.
  • We are fully transparent about our value chain (tier 1,2,3 and 4) and will have continual verification from third party auditors documenting labor standards.
