Birk Gunnar Selquist is a professional Norwegian mountain biker who's widely recognized for his high-speed riding and technical skills, which he shares with a large audience through his viral GoPro footage on TikTok and YouTube.
What is your main activity and why do you love it?
My main activity is mountain biking. I love it because of the thrill, the flow, and the sense of freedom it gives me. Nothing compares to being fully present on the bike.
How old were you when you became passionate about this activity?
I really fell in love with biking when I was around 12 years old. That is when it shifted from being just fun to becoming a true passion.
What activities did you enjoy during your childhood?
I grew up skiing and biking. Those two activities shaped my childhood and naturally led me to where I am today.
What advice would you give to others who want to excel in this activity like you?
You need passion to get started, but discipline is what takes you further. If you truly love biking, stay dedicated, stay curious, and keep pushing your limits.
Do you have a profession alongside your main activity?
If so, tell us about it. Yes. I work as a glazier, handling all types and sizes of glass. It is a hands on craft that demands precision, and it complements my active lifestyle.
What do you think about right before you fall asleep at night?
Right before I fall asleep, I think about how I can make tomorrow better. I reflect on what I want to achieve, plan my next moves, and stay motivated to build the future I am working hard for.
