What is your first memory of nature?
I grew up at 1700 meters above sea level, in the middle of nature. I had to take the cable car to school. Nature is up there.
How would you describe the nature where you grew up?
I particularly remember the winters. That's also my favorite season. There used to be a lot more snow – and it was much colder all the time.
What activities did you enjoy during your childhood?
We are three brothers and went hiking a lot with our parents. But hiking was boring for us – and we soon discovered climbing.
What is your main activity and why do you love it?
Definitely ice climbing. I love the ice, the shapes, the fragility, the ever-changing element. No two days are the same – and in summer, it's all gone.
How old were you when you became passionate about this activity?
I climbed my first free solo on ice. I was about 17 years old and had no idea;-)
What advice would you give to others who want to excel in this activity like you?
Try to find your passion, don't go where all the influencers go. Try to go your own way.
How would you describe Norrøna in your own words?
A brand with very good quality, extremely likable people and lots of potential for the future.
How can you help take Norrøna another step forward in innovation and product development?
I'm a trained mechanic. I'm always trying to optimize things and make them better. I look forward to working with you.
What tips and advice do you have for minimizing our footprint on the planet?
Change begins with each person personally. If everyone does this, then we can achieve great things.
Do you have a profession alongside your main activity? If so, tell us about it!
I still work as a mountain guide. I really enjoy that.
