Forrest Jillson is a powerhouse of the American freeride scene. Growing up in Alta and now calling Jackson, Wyoming, his home, Forrest has transformed a childhood spent watching ski legends on film into a career defined by massive lines and big-screen appearances.
Where did you grow up?
Alta, Wyoming.
Activity
Freeride Skier.
What year did you join the Norrøna family?
2020.
What do you actively do to cut back on your carbon footprint?
I’m a very big advocate of using my bike to get around town, I even use my bike to make a living in the summer/fall where I use it to shuttle river users vehicles along the Snake River.
Was there someone or some event that inspired you to get involved in your sport/activity?
Watching Kent Krietler ski big lines as a kid on Teton Gravity Research films had a huge impact on me.
What advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Become comfortable with uncertainty; A ship isn't built to stay safely tied to the harbor.
If you were stranded alone in the wilderness, name 3 things you would want to have with you.
Fire starter, shelter and bacon.
If you could have dinner with 3 people (living or deceased) who would they be and why?
Edgar Cayce, Albert Einstein and Frank Sinatra. Talking about the other dimensions and the Akashic records with Edgar; while watching Albert try and make sense of it all and occasionally taking a moment to be serenaded by Frank Sinatra? I mean, who wouldn’t want that?!
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and why?
To be able to speak every language on earth, breaking down barriers and being able to connect with every person I meet would be amazing.
