Juliane Grosdidier is a woman of the mountains, driven by a mission to make the outdoors more accessible, beautiful, and inclusive.
Raised in a small village in the French Jura, Juliane grew up surrounded by vast forests and pure air—a "heaven" that shaped her lifelong bond with nature. Today, she calls Annecy home, living at the edge of the lake and the heart of the Alps, where she can ski, run, and bike to her heart's content.
Where do you currently call home?
I live in Annecy, in the heart of the French Alps, on the edge of a lake surrounded by magnificent mountains! I can ski, hike, run, bike, swim, and many more. I love this place and I will probably never leave it again :)
Activity
My favorite activity is obviously skiing. I would like to be able to ski every day of my life! I like running and hiking in the mountains, but also cycling. If the ocean was near me, I'd be surfing all the time too! but there is no natural wave in Annecy yet :(
What do you actively do to cut back on your carbon footprint?
To fight against global warming and limit my carbon footprint, I now travel very little. I only dress in second-hand clothes every day, I recycle everything I can. I limit my waste, I favor local purchases, also seasonal, and I try to do what I can to go in the right direction!
Career highlights/accomplishments
I have been working in the outdoor industry for 10 years! 4 years ago, I founded GIRLS UP, an e-shop of sportswear only for women, to offer a pretty and technical choice so that women feel beautiful and fulfilled! I organize 100% female sporting events to introduce sport to those who don't dare and who are afraid of not having the level. I try to make sport accessible to all women and this goal makes me so grateful!
I also produced 2 ski and snowboard movies, which are called NAKED & SHADOW.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
The French Alps. We have everything here to be happy! (Yes, it's not a myth, the French people are chauvinists)
What advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
To listen to her heart, not to be afraid of others, and to be curious about life and nature, which will bring her everything she needs.
What hobbies do you enjoy participating in?
Sport, music, friends, fondue Savoyarde, and beer. Need nothing else :)
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and why?
If I had a superpower, I would go back in time to erase all the mistakes
