Growing up in East London and the legendary surf mecca of Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, Shannon developed a world-class connection to the ocean. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in East London, South Africa, but later moved to Jeffreys Bay. It’s on the east coast of the country and is home to some of the best waves in the world.

What year did you join the Norrøna family?
2021
What items on norrona.com are some of your go-to favorites?
The wetsuits, boots and gloves are my favorite as I spend many hours a day in the icy waters. It’s important to stay warm and the Norrøna equipment does the job.
The jackets in the outdoor collection for after surf are my other favorites as they keep me warm straight after a surf and do a great job keeping the heat in and the wind out when I’m at the beach.
What do you actively do to cut back on your carbon footprint?
I try not to use single use plastics, and pick up trash on the beach when I see it. I also try not buy too many things and make sure I buy quality food, clothes etc so that it lasts longer.
