Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the Norwegian woods, Sørum, which is in the middle of nowhere. Together with my sister, a Border Collie, we shared our passion for the great outdoors, space and pancakes.
What do you actively do to cut back on your carbon footprint?
I bike to work every day. If I have to drive, I use my Tesla.
I also buy local products and support Norwegian farmers.
Reuse, Recycle, Repair- I prefer craftsmanship, sustainability and quality above fast fashion.
Was there someone or some event that inspired you to get involved in your sport/activity?
My first meeting with the Himalayas in 2012, was a game changer. At that time I worked as a Fashion Director at the magazine Cosmopolitan, but the sight of the mountain Ama Dablam- changed my life. I quit my job, sold my Manolo’s and went all in. Ama Dablam is one of the world’s most beautiful mountains. I have climbed it twice and I’ve been to it’s base camp six times. Every time I see a picture or talk about Ama, I could start crying!
(Give me a napkin!)
Your favorite place in the world?
Well, I guess you figured that one out. Nepal.
What advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Every person is unique and it’s better to embrace yourself than trying to fake your own personality.
If you were stranded alone in the wilderness, name 3 things you would want to have with you.
I have actually been stranded on an island for a month and I brought «Håvamål» with me, which is a book of wisdom from the Vikings. How stupid is that? Congrats! A knife, fishing gear and Gore-Tex clothing- those things sound viser!
What hobbies do you enjoy participating in?
I love the wind, low temperatures and breathtaking scenery. Those elements make me laugh and be the person I want to be. Being in those conditions also gives you what we’re all seeking: Mindfulness. (Plus a dose of irrational happiness).
I also like to take pictures and create stories.
If you could have dinner with 3 people (living or deceased) who would they be and why?
The climber and adventurer: Scott Fischer. «It’s not about the altitude, but the attitude!»
My God: Pippi Longstocking- As her, I refuse to grow up!
My husband. He has to witness this dinner table!
What is/are your hidden talent(s)?
I feel very comfortable in my own company.
